Give to the Max Matching Gifts FAQs

What is a matching gift?

A matching gift is a charitable donation by a business or individual that is paid in an equal amount to donations made by others in a 1:1 ratio. For example, if we have $500 pledged in matching gifts, the first $500 donated by others will result in a total donation of $1,000.

What is the benefit of a matching gift for potential donors?

Matching gifts incentivize potential donors to give. When matching donations are available, donors are effectively doubling their dollars, encouraging donors to select our organization.

What is the benefit of donating a matching gift?

Those giving matching donations can be assured of our rescue’s ability to independently raise funds, reassuring them that their gifts are going to an organization with the capacity to fundraise. Furthermore, those that donate matching gifts know that they are encouraging other donors to select our organization, allowing them to both give and drive other’s giving.

How does a matching gift work?

You can start by filling out this pledge form, which will give us your contact information and intention to give. After that, someone from the rescue will reach out to you to arrange the details and confirm your gift. Matching gifts are performed on the honor system. After November 17th, we will contact you with an invoice for the amount of the donation that was matched by our donors.
